Memorial Golf Tournament Raises Money for Widows and Orphans Fund

More than 100 people participated in the 24th annual Memorial Golf Tournament on June 6.
The event, which was hosted by the Los Angeles County Firefighter’s Memorial Committee, raised money for the nonprofit Widows and Orphans Fund.
Fire Department personnel were encouraged to participate in a round of golf for $125 per person. The total amount of money raised was not available as of publication.
The golf tournament was held at Tournament Players Club in Valencia.
Firefighters Help ABC 7, Los Angeles Regional Food Bank ‘Stuff a Truck’ Full of Food
Firefighters help out with ABC 7’s annual Feed SoCal hunger initiative.
Los Angeles County firefighters helped “Stuff a Truck” full of non-perishable food and other donations for the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank on Friday, June 17, during ABC 7’s Fifth Annual Feed SoCal initiative.
The event took place at the Albertsons at 1735 W. Artesia Blvd. in Gardena from 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. People and organizations donated both food and money.
“During difficult economic times, one out of every seven people in Southern California experiences food insecurity, and especially during the summer, children, veterans, and the elderly hurt the most,” according to ABC 7.
