At its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors issued two proclamations.
The Board proclaimed the month of May to be “Bike to Work Month”; May 15-19 as “Bike to Work Week”; and Thursday, May 18 as “Bike to Work Day” throughout the County. On Thursday, May 18, the County’s Rideshare Program will be hosting the “Metro to Work Pit Stop” to promote bicycling as a sustainable way to commute. Open to all County employees and the public, the Pit Stop will be located on the Temple Street Lawn from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., near Parking Lot 22 (Nate’s Lot) on the corner of Temple St. and Grand Ave. Refreshments and bike safety information will be on-hand as well as tire pressure gauges, air pumps and loner tool kits for cyclists. A “Guaranteed Ride Home” voucher will also be made available for County employees who rode their bikes to work and may need a ride home due to an emergency. See specifics for more information.
The Board also proclaimed June 5 through 9, 2017 as “Management Week” to acknowledge the National Management Association (NMA) and its partners for their commitment in developing leaders within County communities. The NMA provides leadership and management development opportunities to maximize the potential of its members, sponsoring organizations and communities.
