In celebration of “Nurse Recognition Week”, the Board presented “Outstanding Nurse of the Year” awards to nurses from various County departments. Interim Education Program Director Paula Park received the award for the Fire Department.

The Board proclaimed May to be “Older Americans Month” to recognize the contributions older adults have made in the County’s programs and services. This year will be celebrated with the national theme of “Age Out Loud”. Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services, along with the Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults, will be organizing the 52nd Annual Older Americans Recognition Day Awards Program and Reception on Wednesday, May 31 at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

The contract approved between the Fire Department and Motorola Solutions, Inc. provides radio repair and incidental repair services for the Fire Department’s 4,098 waterproof XTS 5000R portable radios. The contract will last for 30 months, effective July 1, 2017 or upon the Board’s approval. The total maximum contract sum is not to exceed $492,989 for routine radio repair services and an additional $62,500 for incidental radio repair services.
