’17 World Police and Fire Games to Host Opening Ceremony

Over 8,000 athletes participating in the 2017 Los Angeles World Police & Fire Games are set to march into the LA Coliseum for the opening ceremony on Monday, August 7 at 5 p.m.  The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) has over 60 athletes competing in the games that begin Tuesday, August 8 and conclude on Wednesday, August 16.
 
All sporting events, including the opening ceremony, are free and open to the public. Department personnel can cheer their colleagues on in many events, including baseball, bowling, ice hockey, outdoor soccer and the triathlon.  You can find the schedule for all the games at www.la17wpfg.com.
 

Helpful details for guests attending the opening ceremony:

  • Parking:  Parking for personal vehicles will be available for $12, adjacent to the LA Coliseum.  Please enter the parking lots from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Hoover Street.  Guests are encouraged to use Los Angeles’ public transportation system.  The MTA Expo Line has a train stop at Exposition Park and it is a short walk to the LA Coliseum. 
  • Guests and Visitors:  Entry into the LA Coliseum will be through Gate 4 which will open to the public at 4:00 p.m.  A ticket or credential is not required for entry.   There will be open seating inside the stadium for all guests.  Concession stands will be open for food and beverage purchase. 
  • Clear Bag Policy:  The LA Coliseum has a strict policy requiring all guests to enter its facility with a clear bag.  All guests attending will be required to comply with this policy or check their over-sized bag at the gate.  Please click here to review and familiarize yourself with the rules and regulations regarding bags.
  • No Firearms:  Firearms are not allowed into the stadium.  Guests are required to go through a screening process prior to entering the stadium.
