LACoFD and LAFD join forces to celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday at the 2018 Kingdom Day parade.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department participated in two different parades commemorating civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, January 15, 2018.

“It was an honor for the Los Angeles County Fire Department to again participate in the annual Kingdom Day parade to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.,” said Chief Deputy David R. Richardson Jr. “With a message of peace and day of service, the event highlights the mission of the Department as we provide public service to the many communities we serve.”

Chief Deputy Richardson, Deputy Chief William McCloud and Battalion Chief Anderson Mackey were accompanied by other firefighters as they marched in the 33rd annual Kingdom Day Parade along Crenshaw and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevards in South Los Angeles. They were followed by classic and modern fire engines.

In Inglewood, the day was filled with pride as residents of Los Angeles county gathered on Manchester Boulevard to also enjoy marching bands, floats and meeting local politicians. Personnel from Fire Station 171 in Inglewood showed off their fire engine in the 35th annual parade.
