On March 6, 2018, a changing of the guard ceremony was held in San Diego to commemorate Firehouse World moving its west coast fire expo and training event to Los Angeles in March 2019.
Firehouse World has held its expo at the San Diego Convention Center for the past 16 years. San Diego Fire-Rescue Department Fire Chief Brian Fennesy officially turned over duties to Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Chief Daryl Osby, Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas, and Pasadena Fire Department Fire Chief Bertral Washington during the ceremony.
Firehouse World is an expo where firefighters come from all around the world to listen to keynote speakers, see new fire equipment, and different apparatus. This convention offers many hands-on skill building conferences for firefighters.
LACoFD, LAFD, Pasadena Fire Department, LA Area Fire Chiefs Association (LAAFCA) and the Los Angeles Regional Training Group (RTG) all collaborated in the decision to relocate Firehouse World to Los Angeles.
