The Los Angeles County Fire Department congratulates Fire Fighter Specialist Kelly Abadie on her Woman of the Year Award.
“I’m very honored,” Abadie said. “I’m very flattered.”
Abadie was one of 14 honorees at the LACCW 30th Annual Woman of the Year Awards, Scholarship and 40-Year Anniversary Luncheon on March 9. The recipient of the President’s Award and one of two awards in the Law and Public Safety category, Abadie is one of seven community-at-large honorees.
The awards are given to women who have made a positive difference in the lives of women Countywide. Abadie has been a role model and mentor for countless women who wish to join the Department.
Until recently, Abadie was the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator for the Department’s Recruitment Unit, where she developed a mentor program that matched aspiring firefighters with current Department personnel.
