The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) proudly honored and celebrated the life and legacy of civil rights leader, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by participating in the 34th annual Kingdom Day parade on Monday, January 21, 2019.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) proudly honored and celebrated the life and legacy of civil rights leader, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by participating in the 34th Annual Kingdom Day Parade on Monday, January 21, 2019.
LACoFD Fire Chief Daryl Osby and Battalion Chiefs Alvin Brewer and Mark Tolbert were accompanied by other firefighters and fire apparatus as they marched the three-mile parade route along Crenshaw and MLK Boulevards in South Los Angeles.
Many community leaders and dignitaries took part in the celebration, including U.S. Representative Maxine Waters, Second District Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore and this year’s Grand Marshal, L.A. Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts.
This year’s theme, “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds, Healthy Democracy,” inspired thousands of parade-goers as marching bands, various cultural dancers and fraternities performed high-energy routines.
