Supervising Hazardous Materials Specialist Fariba Khaledan from the Health Hazardous Materials Division’s California Accidental Release Prevention Program (CalARP) received the Outstanding CUPA Individual Award at the 22nd annual California Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA) Training Conference.

The award ceremony took place at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame on Monday, February 3, 2020.  The three-day conference was attended by approximately 2,000 environmental regulators and industry representatives.

Khaledan was recognized for her hard work and the many contributions she made during the year toward improving the implementation of the CalARP program on a state-wide level.

CalARP facilities, such as refineries, are those that pose the greatest risk to the public and the environment from an accidental chemical release.
