On Saturday, July 16, 2022, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) and the Women’s Fire League hosted the annual Girls’ Fire Camp after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
Open to everyone, this year’s camp once again welcomed participants between 10 to 17 years old at the Cecil R. Gehr Fire Combat Training Center at Department headquarters.
The day-long camp was designed to teach participants about team work, the paramilitary structure, and careers in the fire service.
The itinerary consisted of various hands-on learning stations that introduced participants to information about firefighting apparatus, personal protective equipment (PPE), and knot-tying.
Nearly 40 participants took part in this Girls’ Fire Camp.
